Procedure
A solution of 4-(4-chloro-2-methyl-quinolin-7-ylmethoxy)-benzonitrile (example 54a, 100 mg, 0.32 mmol) in piperidine (1 mL) was heated at 100° C. for 21 h. After cooling the reaciton mixture was partitioned between sat. aq. sodium hydrogencarbonate solution and dichloromethane, the organic layer was separated, washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), and evaporated. Chromatography (SiO2, dichloromethane/methanol 19:1) yielded the title compound (40 mg, 32%). Light yellow gum, ISP-MS: m/e=358.4 ([M+H]+).
