Procedure
(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)—N-(4-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl)docosa-4,7,10,13,16,19-hexaenamide (0.5 mmol) was taken up in 5 mL of CH2Cl2 and cooled to 0° C. Triphenylphosphine (0.5 mmol) and carbon tetrabromide (0.5 mmol) were added and the resulting reaction mixture was slowly warmed to room temperature. After 2 h at room temperature, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue can be purified by silica gel chromatography to afford (4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)—N-(4-(bromomethyl)phenyl)docosa-4,7,10,13,16,19-hexaenamide.
