The 1-1,2-benzisoxazol-3-ylmethyl-3-isopropenyl-1,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-2-one (0.26 g, 0.85 mmol) was diluted with ethanol (2 ml), water (2 ml) and 37% HCl (1 ml). The resulting mixture was warmed to 60° C. for 1 h and cooled to ambient temperature. The reaction was diluted with water and the product was extracted into dichloromethane. The layers were separated and the organic phase was dried (MgSO4). Filtration and concentration gave 0.20 g (89%) of the desired product which was used without further purification.
