To a solution of tert-butyl 3-[4-oxo-3-(1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridazin-1(4H)-yl]piperidine-1-carboxylate (15.9 g) in dichloromethane (76 mL) was added 4M hydrogen chloride in 1,4-dioxane solution (9.4 mL) at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hr. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (12.1 g).
