The semi-crude material from above, 2-Hydroxypyrrolo[1,2-b]pyridazine-6-carboxylic acid (100 mg, 0.56 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (5 mL) and concentrated sulfuric acid (2 drops). The solution was heated to 80° C. for 4 hours, and then the solvent evaporated in vacuo. The crude material was used directly in the next step. MS m/z 193.1 (M+1).
