1N Aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (4.8 ml) was added to a solution of 1-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-5-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (1.3 g) in ethanol (24 ml) at room temperature and stirred at 70° C. for three hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was cooled to room temperature, 1N hydrochloric acid aqueous solution was added and the precipitated solid was collected by filtration to give the titled compound (1.12 g) as a white solid.
