Trifluoroacetic acid (3 ml) was added to a solution of 1-(5-chloropyridin-2-yl)pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.0 g) in dichloromethane (10 ml) and stirred at room temperature for four hours. Water was added to the reaction solution and the precipitated solid was washed with water to give the titled compound (775 mg) as a gray solid.
