To a solution of (1R,2S,5R)-5-methyl-2-(propan-2-yl)cyclohexyl N-(2-{[(tert-butoxy)carbonyl]amino}-2-methylcyclopentyl)carbamate (6.12 g, 15.43 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (35 ml) was added HCl in 1,4-dioxane (4 M, 38.6 ml, 154 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight, concentrated in vacuo and azeotropically distilled with toluene to afford the title compound.
