To tert-butyl 3-(3-(methoxycarbonyl)benzyl)-4-oxo-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triazaspiro[4.5]decane-8-carboxylate (0.19 g, 0.4 mmol) was added 4M solution of HCl in dioxane (2 mL). After stirring at room temperature for 3 hours, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to obtain methyl 3-((4-oxo-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triazaspiro[4.5]decan-3-yl)methyl)benzoate as a hydrochloride salt.
