2M HCl in Et2O (1.8 L) was added to a solution of compound tert-butyl 4-(aminomethyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate 11a (0.24 moles) in MeOH (500 mL). The mixture was stirred for 3 hours at room temperature then the resulting solid was filtered and dried to give 5-Bromo-N-(piperidin-4-ylmethyl)-1H-indazole-3-carboxamide hydrochloride 11 b (76% yield).
