To a solution of 2-fluoro-N-(2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-4-yl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzamide (30 mg, 0.1 mmol) in DMF (1 mL) was added 2,4-difluorophenol (130 mg, 1.0 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (325.8 mg, 1.0 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 1 hour. The reaction was cooled to 25° C., filtered and purified by reverse phase chromatography using a gradient of acetonitrile in water (10-99%) and HCl as a modifier to yield 2-(2,4-difluorophenoxy)-N-(2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-4-yl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzamide (16). ESI-MS m/z calc. 410.07, found 411.2 (M+1)+; Retention time: 1.55 minutes (3 minutes run).
