Reaction Steps

To a slurry of 2-(trichloroacetyl)pyrrole (5.3 g, 25 mmol) and K2CO3 (11 g, 76 mmol) in 100 mL acetone was added a solution of 1-bromo-3-methylbutan-2-one (4.5 g, 27 mmol) in 30 mL acetone. The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at 50° C. before filtering and concentrating under reduced pressure to obtain 3-isopropyl-1H-pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]oxazin-1-one (4.1 g, 93%), which was used in the following step without purification.
