Procedure

To an ice cold solution of propane-1,3-diamine (2.77 g, 37.4 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (60 mL) is added dropwise benzoyl isothiocyanate (12.50 g, 77 mmol). The reaction mixture is stirred at room temp for 3 h and the solvent is removed in vacuo. The residue is suspended in MeOH (80 ml) and filtered to give 13.2 g (88%) of the title compound as a white solid. LC/MS (Condition A): ret. T=3.81 min, (M+H)+ 401.14.
