Procedure
A solution of 6-chloro-5-cyano-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-2-methylthio-pyrimidine (example 9b, 10.0 g) was treated with ammonium hydroxide (28% NH3 in water, 15 ml) and the mixture was stirred overnight. The formed crystals were collected by filtration and washed with water. The product was dried at 50° C. under vacuum yielding the title compound.
