N-Cyclohexyl-2-methoxy-5-(5-methyl-7-nitroindan-4-yl oxy)benzamide (40 mg) and lithium iodide (38 mg) were dissolved in 2,4,6-collidine (2 mL). The mixture was heated under reflux for 15 hours. Adding water, the reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with 1 mol/L hydrochloric acid, water and brine successively, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (eluent: hexane/ethyl acetate=3/1) to give the title compound (28 mg).
