Procedure

To a solution of 1.83 g (9.26 mmol) of (+/−)2-chloro-6,7-dihydro-5H-[1]pyrindine-6-carboxylic acid (prepared by analogy to the method described in WO 99/02517) in 50 ml of anhydrous tetrahydrofuran under argon was added 0.52 g (13.89 mmol) of lithium aluminium hydride. The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. Excess of lithium aluminium hydride was hydrolysed with 2.13 ml of water and 0.53 ml of sodium hydroxide (15%). The precipitate was filtered off and washed with diethyl ether, the filtrate was evaporated to give 1.61 g (95%) of product as an oil.
