Procedure
3.06 g (20 mmole) of methyl bromoacetate were added, whilst ice-cooling, to a solution of 7.25 g (40 mmole) of N,N-dicyclohexylamine in 50 ml of dry benzene, and the mixture was heated under reflux for 9 hours. At the end of this time, the reaction mixture was cooled, the precipitated materials were removed by filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated by evaporation under reduced pressure, to afford 5.07 g of the title compound as an oily substance.
