To a solution 3-[[5-(3-fluorophenyl)-2,3-dimethyl-phenyl]methylamino]-2,4-dimethyl-phenol (87.5 mg, 0.25 mmol, 1.0 eq) in DMF (10 mL) was added Cs2CO3 (0.16 g, 0.51 mmol, 2.0 eq). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min then isopropyl bromoacetate (56 mg, 0.3 mmol, 1.2 eq) was added and the reaction stirred for a further 1 h. The resulting mixture was poured into water and extracted with EtOAc. The organic extract was washed with water and brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered and evaporated in vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography (petroleum ether: EtOAc, 100:1 to 30:1) to give the title compound as a colorless oil (80 mg, 69%).
