A solution of O-(mesitylsulfonyl)hydroxylamine (5.3 g, 24.6 mmol) in DCM (20 mL) was slowly added to a solution of 3,6-dimethylpyridin-2-amine (1.0 g, 8.2 mmol) in DCM (5 mL). A yellow precipitate was formed gradually, and after stirring for 1 h, the precipitate was collected by filtration and used for the next step without further purification. ESI MS: m/z 138 [M+H]+.
