To a 25 mL round bottom flask under a nitrogen atmosphere were added 2-((4-fluoro-3-nitrophenoxy)methyl)quinoline (195 mg, 0.65 mmol), 4-(trifluoromethyl)-benzylamine (112 mg, 0.65 mmol), acetonitrile (1 mL) and DIPEA (0.34 mL, 1.96 mmol). The mixture was heated to 80° C. for 24 h at which point the reaction was cooled to RT and concentrated to dryness. The resulting residue was washed with water (2×20 mL) and then dissolved in EtOAc, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and then concentrated. The material was used without further purification. MS (ESI): mass calcd. for C24H18F3N3O3, 453.13; m/z found, 454.1 [M+H]+.
