Epichlorohydrin → Sodium 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropylsulfonate
Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Epichlorohydrin | HCID 7835 | — |
| Reactant | Sodium Bisulfate | HCID 516919 | — |
| Product | Sodium 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropylsulfonate | HCID 23662382 | — |
Reaction Steps
In this example, sultaine derivatives are formed using the products of Example 2. In general, epichlorohydrin is reacted with sodium bisulfate (NaHSO3) to form sodium 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropanesulfonate. This product is then reacted with the alkylamidoalkylamine composition (e.g., from Example 2) to provide the corresponding hydroxysultaine.
