N-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-5-cyano-2-hydroxy-benzamide (150 mg, 0.4 mmol) obtained in step 1 was dissolved in ethanol (1.74 ml) and DMSO (0.8 ml). 1 M NaOH (0.33 ml) was added thereto, to which 30% H2O2 (0.33 ml) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. The solution was eliminated under reduced pressure. The residue proceeded to column chromatography (5% MeOH—CHCl3) to give 149 mg of the target compound (yield: 95%).
