A mixture of 6-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine (0.80 g, 3.1 mmol) and N-iodosuccinimide (0.78 g, 3.4 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (10 mL) was stirred at r.t. over weekend. Water was added to the mixture with stirring. The light brown solid precipitated and was collected by filtration to afford the desired product (0.83 g) which was directly used in next step reaction without further purification. LCMS (M+H)+=382.0.
