A mixture of 6-chloro-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine (0.3 g, 2 mmol) (Frontier Cat. No. Z13659) and N-iodosuccinimide (0.53 g, 2.3 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (2 mL) was stirred at 80° C. for 1 h. After cooling it was concentrated and the residue was treated with methanol. The white solid was collected by filtration to afford the desired product (0.5 g). LCMS (M+H)+=279.9.
