1.11 g (3.50 mmol) of 2-fluoro-6-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-octyloxypyridine, 0.72 g (3.50 mmol) of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, 0.69 g (3.50 mmol) of trans-4-pentylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid and 0.02 g of 4-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyridine are stirred in 20 ml of dichloromethane at room temperature for 3 hours. After filtration of the mixture, evaporation of the filtrate to dryness, purification of the residue by chromatography (silica gel, 8:2 hexane/ethyl acetate) and recrystallization from n-hexane, 1.00 g of 4-(2-fluoro-3-octyloxypyridine-6-yl)phenyl trans-4-pentylcyclohexanecarboxylate is obtained. ##STR48##
