Acylated lactam ester 20 (56 mg, 0.089 mmol) was dissolved in 2 mL of 1:1 methanol-ethyl acetate in a 20 mL glass vial. 10% palladium on carbon catalyst (10 mg) was added, and the solution was stirred under an atmosphere of hydrogen at room temperature overnight under argon, filtered, and then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was pure by HPLC/MS and was taken to the next step without purification. MS: 541.1 [M+H]+.
