To 0.2 g of (3-amino-5-bromo-phenyl)-pyridin-3-yl-methanone in 10 mL of dichloroethane was added 0.126 mL of diisopropyl ethyl amine and 0.051 mL of acetyl chloride. The reaction mixture was stirred for 10 minutes then poured into water and extracted twice with CH2Cl2. The organic phase was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and and concentrated to give 154 mg of N-[3-bromo-5-(pyridine-3-carbonyl)-phenyl]-acetamide, which was used without further purification. 1H NMR (400 MHz, methanol-d4/CDCl3): δ 8.89 (d, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 8.76 (dd, J=4.9, 1.6 Hz, 1H), 8.17 (dt, J=4.9, 2.7 Hz, 1H), 8.11 (t, J=1.8 Hz, 1H), 7.90 (t, J=1.6 Hz, 1H), 7.61-7.55 (m, 2H), 2.11 (s, 3H).
