To a solution of 3-(2-aminoethyl)-6-methoxy-2-methyl-4-phenylisoquinolin-1(2H)-one hydrochloride (75 mg, 0.22 mmol) in 2 mL of dichloromethane was added triethylamine (0.076 mL, 0.54 mmol), followed by acetyl chloride (0.017 mL, 0.24 mmol). After 45 minutes, the mixture was partitioned between EtOAc and 10% citric acid solution, and the organic layer was washed with saturated NaHCO3 solution and brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The crude residue was purified by preparative reversed phase HPLC to provide the titled product as a colorless oil. Proton NMR for the product was consistent with the titled compound. HRMS (ES) exact mass calculated for C21H22N2O3 (M+H+): 351.1703. Found 351.1681.
