Procedure
As described for example 112a, (2,5-dimethyl-thiazol-4-yl)-acetic acid methyl ester in butanol was reacted with hydrazine hydrate (2 equivalents) and the resulting mixture was then heated under reflux for 20 h. Evaporation of all volatiles and crystallization from n-butanol and toluene afforded the title compound as a white solid (yield: 68%). 1H-NMR (300 MHz, DMSO): δ=2.31 (s, 3H), 2.51 (s, 3H), 3.37 (s, 2H), 4.20 (s, 2H), 9.10 (s, 1H).
