3-Pentyl-2-thioxo-1,2,3,7-tetrahydro-6H-purin-6-one (6.0 g, 16 mmol) was mixed with hydrazine (10 mL, 300 mmol) and water (10 mL). The mixture was heated at 100° C. for 8 h. The solid formed was filtered and washed with water to give the desired product (3.0 g, 78%). LCMS calculated for C10H17N6O (M+H): 237.1; found: 237.1.
