The mixture of 9-butyl-3-(methoxymethyl)-6,9-dihydro-5h-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]purin-5-one (6 mg, 21.7 mmol), N-bromosuccinimide (4.64 mg, 26.0 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (10 ml) was stirred at 70° C. for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by prep LCMS to yield the desired product. LCMS calculated for C13H18BrN6O2(M+H): 369.1; found 371.1.
