A solution of 5.0 g (0.016 mol) of the product of Example 2 in 70 mL trifluoroacetic acid was stirred at room temperature overnight and was then evaporated to yield 3.6 g (88%) of the title compound: m.p. 178°-180°; IR (nujol) 3330, 3230, 3220, 1720, 1640, 1340, 1160 cm-1 ; NMR (DMSO-d6, 200 MHz) δ 3.12 (2H, m), 4.36 (2H, t, J=7 Hz), 7.5-7.7 (3H, m), 7.93 (1H, m), 8.07 (1H, m).
