Reaction Steps
To 20 mg (0.02 mole) of compound 112 was added 1.5 mL of 1.37 M sodium methoxide in methanol, 1 mL of water, and 0.5 mL of THF. The resulting solution was allowed to stir at ambient temperature for 2 days. The reaction was acidified with 1 N HCl (aqueous) and the organic volatiles removed in vacuo. The solid precipitate was collected by vacuum filtration to afford 15 mg of compound 114.
