Triphenylphosphine (262 mg, 1 mmol) and N,N-diethylethanolamine (88 mg, 0.75 mmol) were added to a suspension of 7-hydroxy-6-methoxy-4-(2-methylindol-5-yloxy)quinazoline (160 mg, 0.5 mmol), (prepared as described in Example 49), in methylene chloride (5 ml), followed by the addition, in portions, of diethyl azodicarboxylate (165 μl, 1 mmol). After stirring for 1 hour at ambient temperature, the volatiles were removed under vacuum. The residue was purified by column chromatography eluting with methylene chloride/methanol (95/5) followed by methylene chloride/3M ammonia in methanol (90/10) to give 7-(2-(N,N-diethylamino)ethoxy)-6-methoxy-4-(2-methylindol-5-yloxy)quinazoline (147 mg, 70%).
