7-(Methoxymethoxy)-3-(4-methoxymethoxyphenyl)-4-(9-piperazinylnonyl)-3-methylchroman (380 mg, 0.685 mmol), K2CO3 (190 mg, 1.375 mmol) and 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoropentyl-4-methylbenzenesulfonate (460 mg, 1.384 mmol) were refluxed under acetone for 15 hours. After the mixture was cooled down to room temperature, water was added thereto, and the resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered, and the organic solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The concentrate was subjected to column chromatography (n-hexane:ethyl acetate=4:1) to give 238 mg (yield: 48%) of the title compound as a white solid.
