A mixture of 3-(2-bromoethyl)indole (1.0 g, 4.46 mmol) and 6-chloroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-5-sulfonyl chloride (0.96 g, 1.1 eq.) in THF is treated with potassium t-butoxide (0.48 g, 1.1 equiv.) at room temperature, stirred for 16 h, quenched with saturated NaHCO3 and extracted with EtOAc. The extracts are combined, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give the title product as a brown oil, 1.2 g (58% yield), identified by HPLC and mass spectral analyses.
