Reaction Steps
24 Parts of 28% aqueous ammonia, 20 parts of methyl cyanoacetate (reagent), 23 parts of methyl acetoacetate (reagent) and 40 parts of water were mixed and reacted at 100° C. for 6 hours. Thereafter, the suspension was left to cool to room temperature. 50 Parts of 35% hydrochloric acid was added thereto, and crystals were collected by filtration and washed with water, followed by drying under reduced pressure to obtain 21 parts of 3-cyano-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyridone.
