Procedure

In a sealed-tube was combined 2-(4Fluorophenyl)-3-(2-fluoro-4-pyridinyl)-7-methoxypyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine (from Example 30, 20 mg, 0.06 mmol) and n-butylamine (2.0 mL, 1.5 g, 20 mmol), and the reaction was placed in a pre-heated oil bath at 130° C. The reaction was stirred at 130° C. until consumption of starting material was indicated by TLC analysis (50% ethyl acetate in hexanes). The contents of the sealed-tube was transferred to a flask and concentrated to dryness at 50° C. under high vacuum. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography to yield the title compound, 2.0 mg (0.005 mmol, 80%). 1H NMR (d6-acetone): δ 8.04(d, 1H, J=5.1 Hz), 7.74(dd, 2H, J=5.7, 9.0 Hz), 7.33–7.38(m, 2H), 7.22(t, 2H, J=9.0 Hz), 6.45–6.54(m, 3H), 4.25(s, 3H), 3.30–3.40(m, 2H), 1.60(quint, 2H, J=7.2 Hz), 1.45(sext, 2H, J=7.2 Hz), 0.9(t, 3H, J=7.2 Hz). MS (ES+ve): 391.1 (100, M+), 376.3 (100).
