3-(Aminomethyl)-2-isobutyl-6-(methylsulfanyl)-4-phenyl-1(2H)-isoquinolinone (0.13 g, 0.37 mmol) was dissolved in ethyl acetate (3 mL) and a solution (1 mL) of 4N hydrogen chloride in ethyl acetate was added thereto. The mixture was stirred for 5 min and concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate-diisopropyl ether (1:2) to give the title compound (0.14 g, 95%) as colorless crystals.
