A suspension of tert-butyl{4-butoxy-2-isobutyl-1-oxo-6-[(E)-2-(1,3-thiazol-4-yl)ethenyl]-1,2-dihydro-3-isoquinolinyl}methylcarbamate (0.21 g, 0.4 mmol) and 5% palladium carbon (0.2 g) in tetrahydrofuran (10 ml) was stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 2 h. The catalyst was filtered off, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to give tert-butyl{4-butoxy-2-isobutyl-1-oxo-6-[2-(1,3-thiazol-4-yl)ethyl]-1,2-dihydro-3-isoquinolinyl}methylcarbamate (0.20 g, 95.2%) as crystals.
