To a mixture of ethyl 2-(1,6-dihydroxy-4-methyl-1,3-dihydrobenzo[c][1,2]oxaborol-3-yl)acetate (0.1 g, 0.4 mmol, 1 eq.) and 2-chloro-6-nitropyridine (158 mg, 1 mmol, 2.5 eq.) in 5 ml DMF was added cesium carbonate (392 mg, 1.2 mmol, 3 eq.). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for three hours. It was then quenched by water, extracted with EtOAc, washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (DCM/methanol=39:1 to 19:1) to give desired product as light yellow oil. MS (ESI) m/z=362 [M+H]+.
