To a solution of ethyl 2-(4-chloro-1-hydroxy-6-(5-nitro-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yloxy)-1,3-dihydro-benzo[c][1,2]oxaborol-3-yl)acetate (430 mg, 1.08 mmol) in EtOH (15 mL) and H2O (5 mL) was added 2 drops of conc. HCl and the mixture was heated to reflex for 2 h. Upon cooling, the reaction mixture was filtered and the EtOH was removed under the reduced pressure and the residue was extracted with EtOAc (3×10 ml). The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give the crude product as a yellow oil (330 mg). MS (ESI) m/z=370 [M+H]+.
