Procedure

To a stirring suspension of 4-(4-Bromo-phenyl)-4-(4-chloro-phenyl)-piperidine* (0.28 g, 0.80 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 ml), were added triethylamine (0.45 ml, 3.2 mmol) and ethyl chloroformate (0.085 ml, 0.88 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred for 3 hours, diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with 1N HCl, saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate and brine. The organic layer was separated, dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated to afford the title compound (0.29 g, 94% yield). LCMS: (PS-A2), Rt 4.02 [M÷H]+422, 424. *This starting material can be made by the method described in Example 14A
