To a solution of N-{3-[(6-aminopyridin-3-yl)oxy]phenyl}-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzamide (600 mg, 1.61 mmol) in dimethyl sulfoxide (30 mL) was added ethoxycarbonyl isothiocyanate (230 μL, 1.95 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 12 hr. Water (150 mL) was slowly added to the reaction mixture, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (300 mL). The organic layer was washed with water (100 mL) and saturated brine (100 mL), and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The insoluble material was filtered off, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give ethyl ({[5-(3-{[3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoyl]amino}phenoxy)pyridin-2-yl]amino}carbonothioyl)carbamate (485 mg, 59%) as a brown oil.
