Procedure
A suspension of tert-butyl{2,4-difluoro-5-[(5-nitropyridin-2-yl)oxy]phenyl}carbamate (10.10 g, 27.5 mmol) and 10% palladium-carbon (5.0 g) in methanol (50 mL)-tetrahydrofuran (50 mL) was vigorously stirred at room temperature under a hydrogen atmosphere overnight. The insoluble material was filtered through celite, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was poured into water (200 mL), and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (100 mL×2). The ethyl acetate layers were combined dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and the insoluble material was filtered off. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was crystallized from acetonitrile to give the title compound (8.70 g, 94%) as a white powder.
