To a solution of 2,2,2-trifluoro-N-{2-fluoro-5-[methyl(5-nitropyridin-2-yl)amino]phenyl}acetamide (18.0 g, 50.2 mmol) in ethanol (100 mL)/tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) was added 10% palladium-carbon (1.8 g), and the mixture was stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm) at room temperature for 14 hr. The insoluble material was filtered off, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate/hexane to give the title compound (21.2 g, 68%) as colorless crystals.
