To a solution of 1,1-dimethylethyl 4-[4-(4,5-dihydro-5-(2-fluorophenyl)-3-isoxazolyl)-2-thiazolyl]-1-piperidinecarboxylate (i.e. the product of Step B) (1.05 g, 2.43 mmol) in ethanol (20 mL) was added a solution of hydrogen chloride in ether (2 M, 12.2 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and then concentrated under reduced pressure to provide the title compound as colorless solid (0.807 g)
