To a solution of 3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-5-[5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-thienyl]-1H-indole-7-carboxamide (200 mg, 0.46 mmol) in THF (5.0 mL) was added MnO2 (1.21 g, 13.9 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. Filtration of reaction mixture thru celite afforded 100 mg of the title compound (48.8%)
