To a solution of rac-(3-{[(2R,3R,4R,5S)-3-(3-chloro-phenyl)-4-(4-chloro-phenyl)-4-cyano-5-(2,2-dimethyl-propyl)-pyrrolidine-2-carbonyl]-amino}-propyl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester prepared in Example 28 (0.9 g, 1.5 mmol) in dichloromethane (30 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (5 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h, and concentrated. The residue was then neutralized with saturated aqueous NaHCO3 solution, and then extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was separated, dried over MgSO4, concentrated, dried under reduced pressure to give rac-(2R,3R,4R,5S)-3-(3-chloro-phenyl)-4-(4-chloro-phenyl)-4-cyano-5-(2,2-dimethyl-propyl)-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid (3-amino-propyl)-amide as a white solid (0.8 g, 100%)
