To a stirring solution of tert-butyl 4-(4-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)benzyl)-3-oxopiperazine-1-carboxylate (3.05 mmol, 1.39 g) in dichloromethane (15 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (30.5 mmol, 3.47 g) and the mixture allowed to stir at room temperature for 5 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated and the resulting residue purified by strong cation exchange column chromatography to afford the title compound (932 mg). MS (ESI) m/z 357.0 [M+H]+
